Coelophysis Sculpture
The sculpture below was brought into the studio for photographs that later were presented at thesis defense. More details about the piece below
Barrett Honors thesis by Samuel Goldinger, called An In-Depth Paleoart study of Ceolophysis bauri. It is a sculpture constructed out of paper mache of a dinosaur called Coelophysis bauri, an early theropod dinosaur which lived from the late Triassic to early Jurassic, about 221-196 million years ago. One of the oldest dinosaurs in North America, Coelophysis is a part of early dinosaur history, and it is often misunderstood. The purpose of this project was to show a very different picture of Coelophysis than is commonly seen in mainstream media, questioning its typical depiction as a lizard-creature. At the same time, exstansive research was done to make sure that the sculpture is supported by scientific evidence. The piece serves as balance between creativity and scientific research.
